Lee Grant was born in Detroit in the 30's. His fascination with art began in grade school. He set up a studio in the basement of his parent’s home, designing cars, planes and architectural structures. After graduation from grade school Grant attended The Center for Creative Studies, in Detroit and subsequent art courses at Wayne State University, also in Detroit. Grant's pursuit of art was put on hold while undertaking a marketing career, ending up as Director of Market development for a multibillion-dollar auto parts manufacturer. For the last twelve years of that career he establish a Tokyo office and commuted between there and Detroit. After retirement, and his
relocation to Sarasota, Grant returned to his love of art, painting
colorful oils of a broad range of subject matter. He has taken classes
at The Ringling School of Art & Design and with various Sarasota art
teachers. Currently, Sarasota artist Henry Cope is mentoring him. Lee
often travels internationally to remote locations to find the perfect
location and inspiration for a new painting. His works have been
consistently accepted at Art Center Sarasota's juried shows, and has had
a one-man show at Petals on Palm. His works are in collections in Japan,
and in the US. |
